Nottingham Forest Women have announced the departure of head coach Carly Davies after nearly three years at the helm, marking the end of an era that saw the club achieve historic success.

Davies, who originally joined Forest in 2022, guided the team to a remarkable promotion and Women's National League Cup double in her first full season. However, this year's campaign proved more challenging, with Forest finishing seventh in WSL 2—a mid-table result that fell short of the club's ambitions to push for a spot in the top-tier Women's Super League.

The club confirmed the decision in a statement, noting that "after careful consideration, as the team continues to push towards the WSL, the club has made the decision to begin a fresh cycle under new management." Davies was under contract until 2027 after signing an extension in November 2024, but the club felt a change was needed to build on recent momentum.

Forest's season showed flashes of promise—they won nine of 22 league matches, including three of their final four games before a disappointing 1-0 loss to Southampton on the last day. That defeat ultimately sealed their mid-table finish in a highly competitive second division.

Davies brought a wealth of experience to the role, having previously coached the England Under-19 team and served as assistant manager at West Bromwich Albion. The club acknowledged her "dedication, commitment and professionalism," thanking her for her "significant contribution to the club's recent upwards trajectory and success."

As Forest Women now search for new leadership, fans will be watching closely to see who takes the reins next. The club's ambition to reach the WSL remains clear, and the next appointment will be crucial in shaping the team's future. For now, it's a time of transition—but also one of opportunity for a club determined to climb higher.
