For the champions who have conquered the famed Anderson Speedway, winning the Unified Group Services Little 500 isn't just a trophy—it's a career-defining moment that keeps them chasing more. Three former winners recently shared what makes this race so special, and their stories are a testament to the grit and glory of pavement Sprint Car racing.

Kody Swanson, a multiple USAC Silver Crown champion, knows victory lane well, having won the Little 500 in 2016, 2018, and 2019. "That first win was special for me," Swanson said, noting it was the first for Hoffman Racing. But it's the 2019 victory that stands out most. "The win for Gene Nolen was really, really special. He had been after a win for a long time," Swanson recalled, adding that he had been friends with Nolen even when racing for a competing team. Now, Swanson has his sights set on a fourth win. "It's a hard race just to get to the end. It's hard to put yourself in a position to win and harder to compete against the other guys and gals."

Tyler Roahrig, a champion in both pavement Sprint Car racing and Outlaw Late Models, captured back-to-back Little 500 wins in 2021 and 2022. "The Little 500 win is the biggest one of my career," Roahrig said. "I definitely want more, as always. It's a race that keeps that fire burning." Despite recent struggles with race pace, Roahrig sees progress. "We got a win in the Tony Elliott Classic, and that was a step in the right direction."

Bobby Santos III, a proven winner in Modifieds and Super Modifieds, finally conquered the Little 500 in 2020 after years of near misses. "The Little 500 win is right at the top," Santos said. "It's a race that I feel tortured me for quite a few years, which made it harder and harder to win." He believes he could have scored a win earlier but credits strategy for his 2020 victory. "I've had great pit stops every year. We won that race on strategy, but before that, we could have won with speed." Santos emphasized the unique challenge: "Between lapped traffic and mental mistakes, every aspect makes it the most difficult race. That's what makes it so rewarding when you do have success. There are more aspects in that race than in 10 other races combined."

For these drivers, the Little 500 isn't just a race—it's a legacy, a burning fire that fuels their passion for the sport.
