During the Oregon Ducks' 2026 spring game, quarterback Dylan Raiola introduced himself to fans with several deep-ball connections, showcasing the arm talent that made him a five-star in the 2024 class. By game's end, he'd completed seven of 13 passes for a game-high 146 yards and a touchdown, as he hit wide receiver Evan Stewart down the sideline for a 76-yard score in the first half.

But no matter how he played during the game, Raiola was going to be happy about the day regardless.

"Yeah, I'll start with the entrance," Raiola said in the postgame press conference when asked about his first time taking in a spring game at Autzen. "We had the Harley on our side, and I've never heard something so loud, especially in the tunnel with the echo and everything. But just revving it, the Duck gets on the bike, it’s just like, as a kid you grew up watching Oregon football, and you watch those types of things. And to actually put myself in those shoes, I’m very, very grateful. Very blessed to experience this with all my teammates."

It's normal for players to answer questions postgame with a straight, composed face as to not reveal too much excitement. But on this day, and when talking about his first time experiencing Autzen, Raiola couldn't hold in his joy, beaming throughout his entire answer.

His performance during the game certainly brought joy to Duck fans, as he did more than enough to put confidence in his situation as the 2027 quarterback-in-waiting once Dante Moore enters the NFL draft.

Coming over after starting 22 games for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Raiola arrived in Eugene looking to refine his game and turn himself into a pro-level passer. He was erratic at times at Nebraska, struggling within the schedule of play and forcing the issue too often. He has world-class talent, but just needed to harness it and make the game come easier.

Raiola did that on Saturday, staying within the pocket and launching the ball deep down the field to several of the Ducks' uber talented wide receivers. He had a nice rapport with Stewart, with the two connecting on several passes plus the long touchdown.

It was a glimpse of improvement from his time with the Cornhuskers, but once again, it was Raiola's joy that stuck out the most for head coach Dan Lanning.

"I saw a guy who enjoys playing football," Dan Lanning told reporters postgame. "I saw him light up. There were a couple of deep balls he was able to connect on and some that he didn't. Overall, I was just excited to see Dylan playing out there with some joy and passion and really understanding what we're trying to do on the field. I think that has really come along throughout the spring."

When Raiola was first heading to Oregon, he expected the quarterback room to be very serious. After all, from the outside, the program looks to be all about winning, all the time. But after spending time with Moore, Brock Thomas and others, Raiola relented that it's a fun group and one that he enjoys spending time with.

That will certainly make being the backup quarterback for this upcoming season — barring injury — more enjoyable for Raiola. It'll also help that it's happening in a Ducks uniform and in an atmosphere like Autzen Stadium, which already has the new quarterback glowing.
