The future is bright in Fort Worth. TCU has landed its third recruit for the 2027 class, securing a commitment from three-star defensive lineman Darrien Neal. The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder out of Denton Guyer made his pledge on Saturday, choosing the Horned Frogs over a crowded field of Power 4 programs.

Neal's junior season in 2025 was nothing short of dominant. He racked up 54 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and two sacks, building on a sophomore campaign that saw him post 26 tackles, four tackles for loss, and a sack. His combination of size and relentless motor makes him a perfect fit for a TCU defense that prides itself on disrupting the backfield.

The competition for Neal was fierce. He turned down offers from Kansas State, Arizona, Arizona State, Mississippi State, Baylor, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Purdue, and SMU, among others. It's a clear sign of TCU's growing recruiting pull under head coach Sonny Dykes, especially as the program builds on back-to-back 9-4 seasons capped by bowl wins—the New Mexico Bowl in 2024 and the Alamo Bowl in 2025.

Neal is more than just a football player. A multi-sport athlete at Denton Guyer, he also hits the hardwood for basketball and competes in track and field, showcasing the athletic versatility that college coaches covet. He joins fellow 2027 commits Drake Carroll and Brice McCurdy in what's shaping up to be a promising class for the Horned Frogs.

With defensive coordinator Andy Avalos recently extended, TCU's defense is poised to keep making noise. Neal's commitment adds another powerful piece to that puzzle.
