"I could tell you no, [the expectation is not to make the playoffs], but I know all the players are going to come back, and that's definitely going to be their goal," he said. "I don't want to lower expectations either. They believe they can make the playoffs again. They want another taste of it."

But Briere is also mindful of the fine line between ambition and pressure. "You've got to be careful on how much pressure you put on them," he added. "But that was such a fun run, and I think the guys want to experience that again."

So, what does this mean for the Flyers' offseason strategy? Will they go all-in and make a big splash? According to Briere, only if it's the right fit. "If there's a chance to help improve the team and something that makes sense for the long run, yes, we will jump on it," he explained. "But it's the same as last offseason. We're still in the growth part of the rebuild. What has changed is the experience our guys have gotten."

Briere emphasized that the team won't make moves just for the sake of making moves. "It's my job to look at everything, but I don't feel that I'm forced to make a move just because we made it into the playoffs this year," he said. "We've said it for a long time: we want to build a team that is going to be here for a long time, not just for a year or two. That's still the same approach on my end."

One key need was already addressed last offseason with the signing of Dan Vladar, which brought much-needed stability to the crease. Now, the Flyers are looking to build on that foundation. With a core group that's gained invaluable playoff experience, Philadelphia is poised to take the next step—but only if the pieces fit the long-term vision.
