The Florida Gators are set to light up AT&T Stadium this August as part of a groundbreaking volleyball showcase that's generating serious buzz in the sports world. "Spikes Under the Lights" will feature four powerhouse programs—Florida, Nebraska, Penn State, and SMU—competing in a bracket-style exhibition on August 27, with a staggering $1 million prize pool up for grabs.

This isn't just any exhibition match. The event marks a first-of-its-kind opportunity for collegiate volleyball, offering athletes a chance to earn NIL payments from the prize money, as reported by The Athletic. Over three hours, teams will battle in a best-of-three set format, all while playing under the massive roof of AT&T Stadium, which can hold up to 100,000 fans. The action will also be broadcast nationally on a major network, bringing the sport to an even wider audience.

Florida head coach Ryan Theis couldn't hide his excitement about the event. "What a great moment and event to showcase our sport," he said. "Year after year, volleyball continues to see growth in attendance, premier events, TV audiences, and mainstream network airtime. To be invited to compete on the biggest stage, in front of an audience that the sport deserves, is an honor for our program and players."

One of the most intriguing storylines to watch is a potential matchup between Florida and Penn State. That clash would pit Nittany Lions opposite hitter Kennedy Martin against her former team—a reunion that adds extra spice to an already high-stakes competition. Martin, an All-America First Team selection last season, will be a player to keep an eye on if the bracket aligns.

Ticket pre-sales kicked off on SeatGeek on May 7, with public sales opening May 8. For those looking to catch the action live or follow along, head to spikesunderthelights.com for tickets and more details. This showcase is a testament to how far volleyball has come, and for fans of the Gators, it's a chance to see their team compete on one of the biggest stages in sports.
