Florida State has shifted their focus when it comes to the quarterback position, and they're trying to land three-star Logan Flaherty immediately.

Florida State is making a strong push to secure a key quarterback commitment, and all signs point to the Seminoles targeting three-star prospect Logan Flaherty in the coming days.

The shift in focus came after four-star recruit Wonderful Monds committed to Notre Dame, moving Flaherty to the top of Florida State's wish list. According to Matt LaSerre of Warchant, the Seminoles are working hard to lock in a pledge from the 6-foot-3, 185-pound quarterback as soon as possible.

Quarterbacks coach Austin Tucker recently visited Flaherty at Port Charlotte High School two weeks ago, and a source close to the recruitment revealed that head coach Mike Norvell was on the phone with Flaherty on Sunday night. The message is clear: Florida State wants him committed this week.

Flaherty currently ranks as the No. 599 overall player in the 2027 recruiting cycle and the No. 39 quarterback nationally, according to Rivals' industry rankings. He's also the No. 60 prospect in the talent-rich state of Florida—a state that consistently produces top-tier quarterback talent.

His connection to Florida State runs deep. During his last visit to Tallahassee in March, Flaherty shared his enthusiasm: "It was awesome to be back. I've been here a lot of times. I really enjoy Florida State. Grew up watching Florida State football. Both my parents graduated from here. It's always a blessing to be back on campus."

But landing Flaherty won't be a walk in the park. Rutgers has emerged as a major contender after hosting him late last month. In fact, Flaherty decommitted from UCF right after his trip to Piscataway, signaling his recruitment is wide open.

If Flaherty chooses the Scarlet Knights, Florida State has backup plans. Three-star prospect Kevin Verpaele, currently committed to Pittsburgh, is on their radar—Tucker recently visited him as well. Another potential target is three-star DJ Hunter from Georgia, who decommitted from Kentucky in February.

With Norvell making personal calls and Tucker hitting the recruiting trail, the Seminoles are leaving no stone unturned. The question now is whether Flaherty will don garnet and gold or take his talents elsewhere. Stay tuned—this recruitment could have a resolution any day now.
