The Florida Gators softball team is ready to make some noise in the NCAA Tournament. On Sunday, the squad earned the No. 6 overall seed, securing the right to host the Gainesville Regional at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium from May 15-17.

This is a huge moment for the Orange and Blue, who have built a reputation as postseason powerhouses. Under head coach Tim Walton—now in his 21st season—Florida has hosted a regional in 19 of its 20 NCAA appearances. The last time they missed out on hosting? All the way back in 2008. And if you're wondering about their home-field dominance, the Gators haven't lost a regional game at their own stadium since 2017.

The double-elimination bracket brings together a competitive field. Joining Florida are the Texas State Bobcats (the No. 2 seed in the regional), the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and the Florida A&M Rattlers. Texas State comes in with momentum, having beaten three of the six ranked teams they faced this season. Florida A&M, meanwhile, is making its first NCAA appearance since 2017 after winning the SWAC Tournament.

Georgia Tech is no stranger to Gainesville. The Yellow Jackets are back for the third time in five years and have already visited Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium this season, where they fell to the Gators twice during the Florida Classic. That history adds an extra layer of intrigue to what promises to be a thrilling weekend of softball.

Florida kicks off the action on Friday at 11 a.m. ET against Florida A&M, with the game airing on the SEC Network (also available via Fubo). Texas State and Georgia Tech square off afterward at 1:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+. If the Gators advance, they'll face the winner of the Lubbock Regional, hosted by the No. 11 seed Texas Tech Red Raiders.

With a 48-10 record and a home crowd behind them, Florida looks poised to make another deep postseason run. Whether you're cheering from the stands or gearing up in your Gators gear, this regional is shaping up to be one for the books.
