Florida baseball had a strong week, going 3-1 with a midweek run-rule victory over North Florida and a series win against Kentucky in a rain-soaked Gainesville weekend. That stretch snapped a two-game midweek losing streak and showed the Gators are finding their rhythm as the regular season winds down.
But despite the solid performance, the Gators couldn't climb the Baseball Coaches Poll. They remain at No. 20 in Monday's updated rankings, stuck between No. 19 Ole Miss—who took two of three from Florida earlier in April—and No. 21 Nebraska. It's a frustrating plateau for a team that's been battling inconsistency.
Florida now heads to Baton Rouge to close out the 2026 regular season against defending national champion LSU. The Tigers have struggled this year, and the Gators will look to capitalize on that momentum. The series kicks off Thursday night, and a strong showing could give Florida a boost heading into postseason play.
In the SEC landscape, Georgia leapfrogged Texas for the top spot in the poll, swapping the No. 4 and No. 5 positions. Auburn (No. 6) and Texas A&M (No. 10) also hold top-10 spots. Mississippi State (No. 12), Arkansas (No. 18), Alabama (No. 19), Ole Miss (No. 19), and Florida (No. 20) round out the conference's top-25 representation. Oklahoma fell out of the rankings with 45 votes, while Tennessee received 10 votes.
For Gators fans, the message is clear: keep the bats hot and the pitching sharp. If Florida can take care of business in Baton Rouge, they might finally turn those voters' heads—and gear up for a deep postseason run.
