It's another massive win for Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall, landing his 12th commitment in the 2027 recruiting class.

The Florida Gators are on an absolute tear on the recruiting trail, and head coach Jon Sumrall is proving why he's one of the hottest names in college football. Since the start of April, the Gators have been stacking commitments, and the momentum shows no signs of slowing down. The latest addition? Four-star safety Kailib Dillard, who chose Florida over bitter rivals Oregon and Georgia. This marks the 12th commitment for the Gators in the 2027 recruiting class and their first pledge from the state of Oklahoma – a huge statement for Sumrall's program.

Dillard is a versatile, physical safety who brings a lot to the table. He's a standout run defender, showing a willingness to come downhill and make plays with consistency. But don't sleep on his coverage skills: Dillard has excellent ball awareness and attacks the ball in the air like a receiver – which makes sense, given his background at the position. He's the kind of player who can step in and compete immediately, and with Florida's secondary facing some questions, that's exactly what the Gators need.

Dillard is the second safety to commit to Sumrall since he took over in Gainesville, joining Elijah Owens in the 2026 class. He'll enter a room currently headlined by Cam Dooley and Bryce Thornton, with depth pieces like Drake Stubbs, Lagonza Hayward, and Alfonzo Allen Jr. But don't be surprised if Dillard pushes for playing time as a true freshman – a strong spring camp could put him in the mix early.

Sumrall entered May with 10 commitments, and he's already added two more on the same day. Earlier, four-star offensive tackle Elijah Hutcheson also gave his pledge. For context, former head coach Billy Napier had just two commitments at this point last season. The Gators now boast a top-10 recruiting class per Rivals, and with Sumrall's relentless energy, this class could climb even higher.

It's a family affair, too: Dillard's brother, Malakai, was a wide receiver in the 2026 class. Now, Kailib is ready to make his own mark in the Swamp. For Gator fans, this is more than just a commitment – it's a sign that the program is building something special, one recruit at a time.
