Florida baseball exploded out of the gates and proved too much for the LSU Tigers, whose late inning rally fell short. Here's the recap of the events.

The Florida Gators baseball team stormed out of the gates with a thunderous six-run first inning, and despite a late rally from the LSU Tigers, held on for an 11-8 victory in the series opener at Baton Rouge on Thursday night.

The fireworks started immediately. Kyle Jones singled on the very first pitch of the game, followed by a Brendan Lawson base hit and a walk to Blake Cyr. That set the stage for Ethan Surowiec, who crushed a grand slam to plate four runs and give Florida a commanding early lead. The Gators weren't done yet. Landon Stripling doubled with one out, and walks to Cade Kurland and Cash Strayer loaded the bases again. Jones then came back up and delivered a two-run single, capping the explosive opening frame.

Florida kept the pressure on, adding a run in the fourth on an RBI single from Cyr and another in the fifth from Stripling. In the seventh, a bases-loaded walk to Haden Yost and a wild pitch pushed two more runs across. Kurland added a bases-loaded walk in the eighth to close out the Gators' scoring.

Starter Aidan King worked 5⅓ innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven. It wasn't his sharpest outing of the season, but the offense gave him plenty of cushion. He earned the win before handing the ball to the bullpen.

Jackson Barberi pitched 1⅔ innings in relief, surrendering two runs. Billy Barlow struck out one and hit a batter in his one-third of an inning, while Ernesto Lugo-Canchola issued a walk in his two-thirds frame. Both held LSU scoreless in the eighth.

Ricky Reeth came on for the ninth, but a defensive miscue after a leadoff single brought in a run, making things tense. Florida head coach Kevin O'Sullivan turned to Joshua Whritenour, who gave up an RBI double that pulled the Tigers within three. But Whritenour shut the door, getting the final out to seal the victory for the Orange and Blue.

The win improves Florida's record in SEC play and sets the tone for the rest of the series. With the bats clicking early and the bullpen holding strong, the Gators showed the resilience and firepower that make them a dangerous team down the stretch.
