Florida baseball got pummeled on its home field by the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Tuesday night. Here's what Kevin O'Sullivan had to say about it.

Florida baseball's wild season took another sharp turn Tuesday night, and this one was a tough one to stomach. The Gators, fresh off a statement week where they took three of four from a pair of top-five opponents, were stunned at home by Bethune-Cookman in a 13-7 rout at Condron Family Ballpark.

The story of the night was a complete breakdown on the mound. All six Florida pitchers who entered the game surrendered at least one run, with the dam finally breaking in a decisive seventh inning. The Wildcats plated seven runs in that frame, turning a tied ballgame into a runaway and silencing a Gator offense that had fought hard to keep pace.

In the aftermath, Head Coach Kevin O'Sullivan dissected the difficult loss, pointing directly to the pitching struggles. "The guys obviously just didn't do what they were expected to do," O'Sullivan stated, referencing a planned short start for Jackson that didn't materialize. He credited Billy Barlow and Caden McDonald for keeping the game within reach, allowing the bats to rally and tie the game at five.

However, the momentum was short-lived. O'Sullivan made a rare mid-count pitching change, pulling Eli Blair after two errant misses. "I felt like going to Cooper at that point, he's got experience," the coach explained, alluding to Luke McNeillie's early-season role as a starter. But the move couldn't stop the bleeding, as the bullpen collectively failed to step up on a night when several key arms were unavailable.

"It was a tough game to manage pitching-wise because it's a short week," O'Sullivan admitted, noting the absences of Ricky, Josh, McNeely, and Ernie from the available roster. "Some of these other guys needed to step up, and unfortunately, we did not." The loss serves as a stark reminder of the depth required to navigate the grueling college baseball schedule, especially for a team with postseason aspirations.
