Flamengo continued their dominant run in the 2026 Brasileirão with a commanding 1-0 victory over Grêmio at the Arena in Porto Alegre on Sunday (10), extending their unbeaten streak to 10 matches across all competitions.
The Rubro-Negro, who haven't lost since the start of April, controlled the game from the first whistle. Their relentless pressure was evident early on, with Plata and Carrascal both striking the woodwork in the first half. Grêmio goalkeeper Weverton was kept busy by a series of shots from the reigning South American champions.
Grêmio's best chance came from a defensive error when Flamengo goalkeeper Rossi was caught playing out from the back, but defender Léo Pereira was alert to clear the ball off the line, preserving the clean sheet.
The breakthrough came after the break when Carrascal finished off a well-worked move, slotting home Emerson Royal's assist. The goal was a reward for Flamengo's patience and quality in the final third. From there, the visitors eased off the pace but never looked in danger, controlling possession and dictating the tempo.
The Flamengo fans in attendance showed their appreciation by chanting "olé" with every touch in the closing minutes, while Grêmio's supporters voiced their frustration with loud boos at the final whistle.
This win moves Flamengo to 34 points, closing the gap on league leaders Palmeiras (30 points) with a game in hand. For Grêmio, the defeat ends their unbeaten home run since January and leaves them on 17 points, dropping into the bottom four in 17th place.
The head-to-head record now heavily favors Flamengo, with six wins in the last 10 meetings, along with two draws and just two Grêmio victories.
Both teams now turn their attention to the Copa do Brasil, with second-leg matches scheduled for Thursday (14). Flamengo will visit Vitória at Barradão after a 2-1 first-leg win, while Grêmio travel to face Confiança in Sergipe, holding a 2-0 advantage.
