The NFL Draft concluded this past weekend, with the latest edition of college athletes getting their chance at a professional football career. For Michigan State, they saw two names get called across the stage with Matt Gulbin going to the Washington Commanders and Ryan Eckley headed to the Baltimore Ravens.
Now, the Spartans who have professional aspirations will be focusing on potentially hearing their name get called in the 2027 NFL Draft next April.
With a lot of new faces on this Spartans team, to go along with a new coaching staff, there is an influx of talent coming to East Lansing, looking to showcase themselves on the Big Ten stage.
With the 2026 draft behind us, and looking ahead to the 2027 draft, let's take a look at five players that could hear their name on draft day next Spring:
Quite frankly, you can't teach someone to be 6-foot-7, 335 pounds. Pair that with the skill he had on UConn, he could jump on a lot of people's big boards this season.
Getting a chance to play in the Big Ten, against top level competition, he can really showcase how he would be an asset to an NFL franchise.
Hall has shown the ability to be a solid Big Ten linebacker over the past three years, where he has played for Michigan State since being a true freshman. Hall has the measurables, and the athleticism to play at the next level, and he is finally getting the production to match.
Racking up 88 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2025, Hall is poised for another big year in 2026. Getting coached up by Pat Fitzgerald and Max Bullough wont hurt, either.
Another UConn transfer, Edwards absolutely tore up defenses while with the Huskies. Coming to MSU with 2,690 yards in his career, he will get a chance to showcase his outstanding rushing ability in the Big Ten.
With the exposure, and ability to get meaningful touches in the nation's best conference, Edwards can firmly show why he would be able to contribute in the NFL.
A big part of making the NFL is having the size and athleticism that is needed to make the jump to the next level. Sometimes, the production in college comes secondary. Coenen fits the physical profile of an NFL defensive lineman.
At 6-foot-6 and 290 pounds, he is going to have the size NFL teams look for, and being able to play both inside and outside, as seen in his time with Illinois, he has the athleticism that could translate to the next level. If Coenen has a productive year in the green and white, he could easily make his way on draft boards.
Only a junior, so he would have to declare early and not play his senior year, but he could be the next one in line for the long Michigan State tradition of good punters. Byrce Baringer and Eckley have both gotten their names called in the draft, and Dakin is poised to be next.
Arguably the best punter in not only in the Big Ten, but the nation, the last two years, he is someone that is probably already on draft boards.
