The 2026 NFL draft is less than a week away, meaning that dreams are about to come true for a handful of former LSU Tigers.
It's hard to truly guess what's going to happen for these ex-Tigers, as the NFL draft is unpredictable, but mock drafts provide a look into what the expected market for each player is. It does take just one team to fall in love to get drafted, though.
NFL.com's Chad Reuter recently released a seven-round mock draft, in which five LSU players were taken. That would be the fewest since 2019, when only three players were selected.
Delane has a chance to be the first defensive back selected in the draft, depending on what happens with Caleb Downs. It is certainly deserved based on his play, especially considering he was injured for most of the year. He's probably also going to be the only Tigers taken on day one.
Haulcy could be a dark horse, with a lot of people viewing him as the second-best safety in this class. He's a hard hitter who can also play solid coverage. Going to the Eagles would be a fantastic fit and result for Haulcy.
Speaking of great fits, there are few better ways for this tumultuous final year in college to end for Nussmeier. The Steelers are relying on Aaron Rodgers to return, or else their best quarterback would be Mason Rudolph. That leaves open the possibility of Nussmeier still starting very early in his career or even right away, because he has looked much more like himself since getting healthy.
Perkins is going to be one of the most interesting cases in the draft. For years, the talk has been that he is too much of a tweener to be effective in the NFL. His athletic testing was just so good that some team will be sure that they will be the ones to figure him out. Going in the top 100 is a fantastic outcome for him.
Payton is a great player to take a swing on late in the draft. He didn't have a super productive year in Baton Rouge, but had 16 sacks and 31.5 TFLs across three seasons for the Florida State Seminoles.
