The Miami Dolphins filled out a new front office this offseason, but one of their top guys is already getting interviews for another job.

The Miami Dolphins underwent a major front office overhaul this offseason, parting ways with general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel in recent months. The team brought in fresh faces to reshape its leadership—but one of those new hires might already have one foot out the door.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Minnesota Vikings have requested permission to interview Dolphins assistant general manager Kyle Smith for their vacant general manager position. Smith, 41, joined Miami's front office in January, making this a swift potential departure for a key executive.

Smith's football journey is a classic climb through the ranks. He played professionally from 2006 to 2009 before transitioning to the front office side, starting as a scouting intern with Washington in 2010. After 11 years there, he spent five seasons with the Atlanta Falcons before landing in South Florida earlier this year. His connection to Minnesota runs deep—he signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2006, adding a layer of intrigue to the interview request.

The Vikings fired former general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah earlier this offseason and waited until after the NFL Draft to compile their candidate list. With Smith's experience and ties to the organization, he could be a strong fit for the role.

In other Dolphins news, the team saw a running back surprisingly announce his retirement shortly after rookie minicamp, adding another twist to Miami's offseason narrative.
