First Coast golf is heating up with a flurry of impressive shots and exciting tournaments on the horizon. From hole-in-one heroes to age-defying performances, the local links are buzzing with action. Whether you're tracking your own game or gearing up for the next big event, here's everything you need to know from the First Coast scorecard.
Hot Shots Worth Celebrating
The fairways have been kind lately. At Fleming Island, Robert Parker aced No. 8 with a smooth 108-yard 9-iron. Over at San Jose, Rod Penfield matched the feat on No. 8, using a pitching wedge from 115 yards. Mark Bomberger also turned heads at San Jose, carding an eagle-two on No. 1 with a 298-yard driver and a crisp pitching wedge.
Age-Defying Rounds
Some players are proving that experience is a true asset. Doug Allred shot a remarkable 72 at San Jose—at age 77. Blue Sky saw Jim Blache post an 84 (age 86) and Larry Hough also carded an 84 (age 84), showing that consistency and passion for the game never fade.
Women's Association Play Day
At Windy Harbor, the Jacksonville Women's Association held a net Stableford competition with standout results. Flight 1 saw Shari Zeimetz take top honors with 31 points, followed by Kathleen Walker (30) and Cindy Riley (30). Flight 2 was led by Kerry Tobin (38), with Helen Short (34) and Michelle DuFresne (34) close behind. In Flight 3, Vickie Prince claimed first with 35 points, while Betty White (33) and Linda Boland (29) rounded out the podium.
