The summer transfer window is fast approaching, and Bayern Munich are already making moves behind the scenes. With the DFB-Pokal final against VfB Stuttgart looming as their last chance for silverware this season, the German giants are also preparing for a squad overhaul. It's been confirmed that both Leon Goretzka and Raphaël Guerreiro will depart after this season, and more sales could follow to free up funds for new signings. The defensive line, in particular, has been a major concern—especially after selling Sacha Boey back to Galatasaray in the winter window. Add to that a string of injuries to key defenders like Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, Josip Stanišić, and even shorter spells for Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae, and it's clear that reinforcements are needed.

Enter Givairo Read, the promising young right back from Feyenoord who has been on Bayern's radar for quite some time. However, the path to signing him isn't straightforward. Feyenoord are holding out for a fee of at least €30 million, a price tag that Bayern are hesitant to meet. The Dutch club knows there's plenty of interest from across Europe, and with Read's contract running through June 2029, they're in a strong negotiating position.

Speaking after Feyenoord's 1-1 draw with AZ Alkmaar, Read opened up about his future. With just one Eredivisie match left in the season, the 19-year-old admitted a summer move is a real possibility—but he hasn't made up his mind yet. "It is no longer a secret that clubs are watching me and that a move might be coming up in the summer. I don’t want to keep that a secret either. But I haven’t made a choice yet, so I’m still under contract with Feyenoord. It could very well have been my last home match, but I don’t want to say that too soon," he told ESPN NL.

For Bayern, the decision could come down to need. With their defensive injury woes this season, adding a young, dynamic fullback like Read would be a smart long-term investment. But whether they're willing to match Feyenoord's asking price—or if another club steps in with a better offer—remains to be seen. One thing's for sure: this is a transfer saga worth keeping an eye on.
