Feel old yet? Maurice Jones-Drew's son signs on with the UCLA Bruins

Time flies in the world of football, and the next generation is already making moves. Maurice Jones-Drew, the three-time NFL Pro Bowler and Jacksonville Jaguars legend, has a son who's ready to carve his own path—and he's doing it at his father's alma mater.

Deuce Jones-Drew, a three-star running back in the 2027 recruiting class, has officially committed to the UCLA Bruins. The news comes as a thrilling addition to an already electric offseason for UCLA football, which boasts a Top-Five 2027 recruiting class and 40 new transfers under head coach Bob Chesney. Deuce will follow in his father's footsteps, joining the program where Maurice starred from 2003 to 2005 before being drafted in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft.

Standing at 5'8" and weighing 185 pounds, Deuce is built similarly to his father—a compact, powerful runner who knows how to navigate tight spaces. Over the past two seasons at De La Salle High School, he's racked up over 400 rushing yards each year, proving he can be a consistent threat on the ground. 247 Sports ranks him as the No. 44 running back in the class, with Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins noting that while Deuce "might not fit the mold of a true workhorse," he can be a "spark plug in a committee while adding value as a return man." Ivins added, "He runs low to the ground and has the balance to shed contact."

Deuce becomes the second 2027 running back to commit to UCLA in the past week, joining Jayshon Gibson. With these two young backs in the fold, Chesney and offensive coordinator Dean Kennedy have plenty of options for the future. Deuce chose UCLA over offers from Cal, Utah, and SMU, making it clear that legacy matters.

It's a full-circle moment for the Jones-Drew family, and for UCLA fans, it's a reminder that the Bruins' future is looking bright. Will Deuce match his father's terrific NFL career? Only time will tell, but the journey starts now in Westwood.
