Hartlepool United will be searching for a new manager this summer, as the club has confirmed Nicky Featherstone will depart his role at the end of the season. Featherstone, who was appointed permanently in December, has overseen 31 matches in charge.
The decision comes after a strategic review by the club's new ownership. American owner Landon Smith, who took over earlier this year, stated that following an analysis by football consultancy Bromby and Partners, the club has decided to pursue a manager with a specific profile that differs from Featherstone's current career path.
Featherstone's tenure had its highs and lows, including 12 wins but also a heavy 7-0 defeat to Wealdstone in April. He will remain in charge for Hartlepool's final three National League fixtures, with the club currently sitting ninth in the table.
This marks another chapter in a challenging period for Pools, who will spend a fourth consecutive season in the National League following their 2023 relegation from the EFL. The club has indicated that initial discussions have been held with Featherstone regarding potential alternative roles within the organization as they plan their next move.
