FC Bayern Munich brought a touch of Bavarian magic to Asia this spring as club legend Roy Makaay embarked on a whirlwind tour through Hong Kong and Beijing. The Dutch striker, known for his lethal finishing during his playing days, served as the club's brand ambassador on a multi-day trip that strengthened ties with partners and delighted fans across the continent.

The journey kicked off in Hong Kong, where Makaay was the guest of honor at SAP HR Connect. In an engaging fireside chat alongside Luc Timm, FC Bayern's Head of International Business, the former star discussed how technology is reshaping professional football, the enduring partnership with SAP, and highlights from his illustrious career. After the conversation, Makaay patiently posed for photos and signed autographs for eager attendees, proving his star power remains undimmed.

With Hong Kong set to host FC Bayern against Aston Villa on August 7, 2026 as part of the Audi Summer Tour, Makaay took time to explore the vibrant city—offering fans a glimpse of what's to come when the team arrives next summer.

The tour then moved to Beijing, where Makaay visited the Viessmann China Showroom in Shunyi. There, he connected with customers and retailers, answering questions about the club's collaboration with the German heating technology company and sharing his passion for the game. Later, at the Beijing CBD Sports Park, Allianz Insurance Asset Management hosted a special event featuring a friendly match—with Makaay taking charge from the touchline as coach, much to the delight of participants.

Between official engagements, Makaay embraced Chinese culture and history. Accompanied by local FC Bayern staff, he toured the iconic Forbidden City, blending sightseeing with club branding in a memorable cultural exchange.

One of the trip's standout moments came at the Beijing International Auto Show, where Makaay appeared at the Audi stand. Before a packed hall, he discussed the long-standing partnership between FC Bayern and Audi, shared his impressions of the Chinese market, and even tried his hand at Chinese calligraphy. The session concluded with a lively Q&A and yet another round of photos and autographs for enthusiastic fans.

The tour wrapped up on a high note with a fan activation, bringing Makaay face-to-face with supporters in an intimate setting. From corporate events to cultural explorations, this journey showcased FC Bayern's deep commitment to its Asian fanbase—and built excitement for the Audi Summer Tour 2026, which will also include a stop in Jeju, South Korea.
