In a move that signals a bright future for both player and program, forward Kolin Sisson has committed to UMass-Lowell for the 2026-27 season, as announced by the team via social media.
The 19-year-old right-handed shooter may be listed at a modest 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, but his production on the ice speaks volumes. A native of Lincoln, Rhode Island, Sisson honed his skills at Mt. St. Charles Academy and South Kent School before making the leap to the USHL.
His journey through junior hockey has been a study in perseverance. After a solid 16UAAA season with Mt. St. Charles, Sisson joined the Chicago Steel for the 2023-24 campaign, averaging just under half a point per game. His sophomore season showed real growth—18 goals and 27 points in 47 games—though a minus-22 rating highlighted areas for improvement.
This past season, everything clicked. In his third USHL year, Sisson erupted for 14 goals and 19 assists (33 points) in just 38 games with the Steel, making him Chicago's leading scorer at the trade deadline. That's when the Fargo Force came calling, acquiring the hot-handed forward. The change of scenery proved electric: Sisson posted 24 points in 21 regular-season games with Fargo—the best scoring pace of his USHL career—and added six points in six playoff contests.
Originally committed to Providence, Sisson flipped his pledge in early April. He joins a River Hawks squad looking to rediscover its playoff magic, having not advanced past the Hockey East semifinals since the 2021-22 season. For a player who's made a habit of defying expectations, this could be the perfect fit.
