Every Hearts game is a pulse-quickening drama now, and this season's intoxicating title race just took another twist. From the opening whistle at Fir Park, every tackle, every header, every kick felt like a palpitation-inducing moment for the maroon-clad faithful from Edinburgh.

The drama reached its peak in the 68th minute when Alexandros Kyziridis went down under a challenge from Tawanda Maswanhise. It looked like Hearts were about to get a chance to make it 2-1 from the penalty spot. Referee Steven McLean initially waved play on, but VAR Greg Aitken called for a review. After a tense trip to the monitor, McLean stood firm—no penalty.

Hearts manager Derek McInnes was left fuming. "He was impeded. It's such a poor decision. The main talking point. I don't understand why that's not a penalty," he said. On the other side, Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou saw it differently: "Not enough in it. Some sort of contact, but minimal. Kyziridis makes it look like there's more contact than there is."

People see what they want to see, but one thing is certain: this historically brilliant campaign is going to the wire. Every match feels like a cup final now, with the title race delivering twists and turns that keep fans on the edge of their seats.

Hearts left Fir Park unbeaten and unbowed, but damaged. Two points dropped, and two key players sidelined. Marc Leonard and the indispensable Craig Halkett—the lynchpin at the back—were both invalided out of the action, and out of the last two games of the season. That's a heavy blow for a team already feeling the pressure.

At full-time, the players walked over to their fans, whose support had been unceasingly loud and passionate throughout. Even with the draw confirmed, the roar from the stands was electric. Those throats would have needed a soothing nectar last night. Their minds? Scrambled.

Hearts will try to convince themselves that a point at Fir Park isn't a bad result—especially since Celtic have to come here on Wednesday. But whether this is a good point or a bad one, we won't know the truth until next week.

Those injuries, though, add more obstacles to Hearts' path. McInnes has other centre-backs, but there isn't another Halkett. He can slot Cammy Devlin in for Leonard, but Devlin is a different kind of player. In a title race this tight, every absence is magnified. The drama isn't over yet—not by a long shot.
