Mother Nature just can't seem to stay out of the lineup at Covenant Health Park. One night after the Knoxville Smokies lit up the scoreboard against the Birmingham Barons, Wednesday's game was postponed due to rain—a familiar foe for the home team this season.

Instead of a single game, fans will now get a double dose of baseball. The two teams are set to play a doubleheader on Friday, May 8, featuring two seven-inning games. If you already have tickets to Wednesday's rainout, don't worry—the Smokies' rain policy allows you to exchange them for tickets to Friday's twin bill.

First pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for 5 p.m., with gates opening at 4:30 p.m. Game 2 will follow approximately 40 minutes after the first game ends. It's a solid plan for a full evening of minor league action, and a chance for the Smokies to keep their momentum rolling after Tuesday's offensive explosion.

But here's hoping this isn't a sign of more weather woes to come. Rain delays and cancellations were a recurring theme during the Smokies' inaugural 2025 season at their new Old City home, and even Knoxville's soccer team, One Knox SC, has had to juggle its schedule around the elements. For a team that's already dealt with its share of soggy setbacks, a little sunshine would be a welcome relief.

So grab your gear, check the forecast, and get ready for a Friday night doubleheader that's sure to deliver plenty of action—rain or shine.
