What Drake London's next contract could end up costing the Falcons

The 2026 NFL Draft is in the books, which means the Atlanta Falcons' front office can now turn its full attention to securing their biggest stars for the long haul. At the top of that priority list? Wide receiver Drake London.

London is currently slated to play out the 2026 season on his fifth-year option, which would cost the Falcons just under $17 million. However, locking him up with a new contract could actually create valuable cap space. According to Over the Cap, Atlanta could save up to $12.5 million by extending him now rather than waiting.

So, what will a London extension look like? Josh Kendall of The Athletic predicts the deal will closely mirror the one signed by New York Jets receiver Garrett Wilson last summer: four years, $130 million. But as always, the real story lies in the details—especially the guaranteed money.

"Wilson signed a four-year, $130 million deal last summer," Kendall notes. "If I were to guess at London’s new deal, I’d guess four years for $135 million, but the real number to watch will be the fully guaranteed money. Wilson’s total of $38.3 million fully guaranteed ranks just 15th among wide receivers in the league, according to Overthecap.com."

London has more than lived up to the hype since the Falcons selected him in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Over 62 career games, he has hauled in 309 catches for 3,961 yards and 22 touchdowns. While a PCL strain sidelined him for five games last season, he still managed to post 919 yards and seven touchdowns—proving he can produce even when banged up.

Simply put, London is the most dynamic receiver Atlanta has had since Julio Jones was in his prime. Giving him a lucrative, long-term deal is a no-brainer, and the Falcons are poised to make him the cornerstone of their passing attack for years to come.
