It's been quite the downfall for Koo.

Younghoe Koo's NFL journey has taken another dramatic turn. The former Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants kicker is now trying to revive his career with a division rival, attending rookie minicamp with the New Orleans Saints this week.

Once one of the league's most reliable kickers, Koo has experienced a rapid downfall. The Falcons released him after just two weeks into the 2024 season following a missed game-winning field goal. Then came a brief stint with the Giants, where he missed two field goals from beyond 50 yards in his final game, leading New York to move on during a season where they cycled through multiple kickers just to survive.

Now, Koo is in New Orleans, hoping to impress coaches with his leg. For a veteran kicker, rookie minicamp is less about learning the ropes and more about showcasing consistency. But landing a permanent spot with the Saints faces long odds. New Orleans found a promising young kicker in Charlie Smyth last season, and his powerful right leg appears secure. They also brought in undrafted rookie Mason Shipley from Texas to compete.

At this point, Koo has entered the journeyman phase of his career—a familiar crossroads for many kickers. Some find a second home; others never fully regain their footing. For now, he's just trying to get his cleats in the door, one kick at a time.
