The FA is investigating after Northern Premier League chairman Mark Harris allegedly sent an abusive email to an FC United of Manchester fan.

The Football Association has launched an investigation into Northern Premier League chairman Mark Harris following allegations he sent an abusive email to a supporter of FC United of Manchester. The incident stems from a controversial league decision to relocate a crucial end-of-season fixture.

The controversy centers on the NPL's choice to move FC United's match against Stockton Town from their own Broadhurst Park to nearby Curzon Ashton on April 21st, a game repeatedly postponed due to pitch issues. The decision has major sporting and financial implications for the fan-owned club, who could go top of the table with a win in their game in hand.

After supporter Aled Duckfield emailed Harris, criticizing the move as "diabolical" and accusing the league of "incompetence," the chairman's alleged reply contained shocking abusive language. Duckfield stated he was stunned by the response from such a senior football figure.

Harris, a highly-respected administrator who has chaired the NPL since 2009 and serves on the FA's National Leagues Pyramid Board, has reportedly reported himself to the FA and declined to comment on the specific allegations. Both the FA and the NPL have confirmed active, urgent investigations are underway.

With the season ending on April 25th, the league argues it cannot risk another postponement for a match with major title and play-off ramifications. FC United, however, contends the venue change unfairly impacts their championship pursuit and club finances, highlighting the intense pressure and high stakes in non-league football's dramatic season finale.
