Former Premier League striker Louis Saha has shared his candid thoughts on Tottenham Hotspur's precarious position in the relegation battle, warning that the north London club could be "at their most dangerous" when backed into a corner.

In an exclusive interview with Get French Football News, the ex-France international—who played for both Manchester United and Tottenham—acknowledged the gravity of Spurs' situation. "We have the right to be afraid for them, that's for sure; they are in a very tough spot," Saha admitted. But the veteran striker quickly pivoted to optimism, adding, "I have confidence in a group of talented players who, when pushed into a corner, can be at their most dangerous. I hope they will show their character, like they did in their last match [a 1-0 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers]."

When asked to diagnose what has gone wrong at a club that once challenged for Champions League spots, Saha pointed to a long-standing issue: inconsistency. "It's a lack of consistency going back years," he explained. "You sometimes get the impression that they're too hesitant, looking for a teammate to take the initiative. There's a mental disconnect at key moments—whether during a match or across a season."

The former striker didn't shy away from criticizing the club's transfer strategy, drawing parallels to Arsenal's years of frustration. "Sometimes it comes from the board and the type of signings made. It's great to sign super-talented youngsters, but maybe you need to bring in players who have already established themselves as world-class," Saha said. "You don't want to suffer from a lack of experience at key moments."

He used Chelsea's recent struggles as a cautionary tale. "Chelsea have made about 20 signings of talented young players, but there are key moments in a match or a season where mistakes are made at great cost. If you do that regularly, to the detriment of results, it might work commercially, but then you find yourself in a situation like Tottenham's."

Interestingly, Saha noted that the same problems have persisted at Spurs despite multiple managerial changes, from Jose Mourinho to Antonio Conte. "Definitely, because I remember hearing Jose Mourinho complain about similar issues," he reflected. For a club with such rich history and talent, the message is clear: character and experience matter as much as raw potential in the fight for survival.
