Former Tennessee Titans cornerback L'Jarius Sneed can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The pending assault charges stemming from a December 2024 incident have been officially dismissed, clearing the way for the veteran defensive back to focus on his NFL future.

The legal saga began when Sneed was charged with aggravated assault following an altercation at a car dealership in Carrollton, Texas. The charge was later reduced to a misdemeanor, and now, according to Dallas-based criminal defense attorney Michael J. Todd, all charges have been dropped entirely.

This news comes just months after the Titans made the difficult decision to release Sneed during free agency. General manager Mike Borgonzi and head coach Robert Saleh opted to part ways with the cornerback, who had been acquired via trade from the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024. Tennessee had invested heavily in Sneed, signing him to a four-year, $76 million deal based on his stellar production with the Chiefs. However, the contract drew criticism from analysts who questioned both his injury history and character concerns.

Now a free agent with no legal distractions, Sneed is eligible to sign with any team. But the road back to prominence won't be easy. During his two seasons with the Titans, the cornerback appeared in just 12 games, recording 49 tackles, three passes defensed, and 3.5 stuffs. To put that in perspective, he matched or exceeded those numbers in his final season alone with the Chiefs. Injuries have certainly played a role in his decline, but the production drop-off has been undeniable.

Still, the NFL has a way of giving second chances, especially to talented cornerbacks. Expect Sneed to find a new home before summer ends, likely with a team desperate for secondary help. Whether he can recapture the form that made him a key piece of Kansas City's championship run remains to be seen. For now, though, Sneed can focus on what he does best: playing football.
