Former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs is making his case to NFL teams after being released this offseason. Fresh off being found not guilty of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery charges, the veteran pass-catcher took to social media to plead his case for a new home.
"This is not an opinion-based sport, so here are the numbers," Diggs wrote on Instagram alongside a highlight reel. "I played 52% of the snaps and finished with 85 catches for 1,045 yards coming off an ACL. Where we going?"
Diggs was a key piece of the Patriots' offense last season, leading the team in both receptions and receiving yards while emerging as a locker room leader. At 33 years old, he was released due to a looming $26 million-plus cap hit, but Diggs believes he has plenty left in the tank.
With another year of recovery from his torn ACL under his belt, Diggs argues he can be even more productive with increased playing time. His limited snap count last season—just over half of the offensive snaps—suggests he could put up monster numbers with a full workload. The ideal fit for Diggs would be a team in need of a veteran receiver who can make an immediate impact.
The challenge? Most teams have already addressed their wide receiver needs through the NFL Draft, and signing Diggs would mean taking snaps away from younger, developing players. But in a league where injuries are inevitable, a proven talent like Diggs—with a resume that includes Pro Bowl appearances and playoff success—remains an attractive option for contending teams.
Diggs has shown he can still produce at a high level, and it's only a matter of time before a team gives him another shot. Wherever he lands, he expects to thrive.
