Former Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore has been sentenced following a disturbing off-field incident. On Tuesday, a judge in Ann Arbor's 14A-1 District Court handed down the sentence related to Moore breaking into the home of Paige Shiver, a former Michigan staffer with whom he had an inappropriate relationship.
Moore received 18 months of probation, avoiding additional jail time. The court's conditions are strict: he is prohibited from using alcohol or recreational marijuana, possessing any weapons, and must have zero contact with Shiver. He is also required to continue mental health treatment and pay court fines exceeding $1,000.
This sentencing follows a March plea deal where Moore pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges—malicious use of a telecommunications device in a domestic context and trespassing. In exchange, more serious initial charges, including home invasion and stalking, were dropped.
The case marks a tumultuous and regrettable chapter for the Michigan program, a stark contrast to the on-field success the Wolverines have enjoyed. As the community moves forward, focus now shifts back to the field, including the upcoming spring game and celebrating the university's recent national championship in basketball.
