Former New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson finds himself at a career crossroads. The 10-time Pro Bowler has received an offer from the New York Jets, but he's weighing whether to continue his playing days or transition to the broadcast booth.
Wilson, who started the first three games of the 2025 season for the Giants before being benched in favor of rookie Jaxson Dart, discussed his options in an interview with the New York Post. The 14-year veteran signed a one-year, $10.5 million deal with the Giants last offseason, but his performance dipped dramatically last season, completing a career-low 58% of his passes for 831 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions across six appearances.
"They offered me," Wilson said of the Jets' interest. "I'm trying to figure out what's the next best thing to do and all that. I still know I can play ball and do that at a high level. But also, I think the opportunity to do TV, too, is great."
Wilson noted there are "a lot of great networks" interested in his broadcasting talents, signaling a potential second act in sports media. Despite last season's struggles, the veteran signal-caller has an impressive resume that includes 353 career touchdown passes (fourth-most among active players) and 49,966 passing yards (fifth-most). He spent his first 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, where he won a Super Bowl, before stints with the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Jets, who acquired veteran Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders in March, also drafted a Clemson quarterback in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft and have Brady Cook and Bailey Zappe on their roster. Wilson has been staying visible during the offseason, making appearances at a Savannah Bananas game, the Kentucky Derby, and the Met Gala.
With Jets rookie minicamp scheduled for this weekend and organized team activities beginning May 27, a decision may come soon. For fans looking to gear up like their favorite quarterbacks, Wilson's potential landing spot—whether in the broadcast booth or on the field—will be one to watch as summer approaches.
