After 17 unforgettable years, Everton legend Seamus Coleman is set to bid farewell to Goodison Park this summer. The 37-year-old right-back, who joined the Toffees from Sligo Rovers for just £60,000 in 2009, will leave the club when his current contract expires.

Coleman's journey at Everton is the stuff of football fairytales. Signed by David Moyes, he went on to make an incredible 433 appearances for the club, becoming a beloved captain and a symbol of loyalty in an era of constant change. Remarkably, Moyes—now back in the manager's hot seat—will also be the man at the helm when Coleman walks out as a player for the final time.

The club has offered Coleman the chance to stay on in a coaching role, but the Irish international is expected to take the summer to weigh his options. In an emotional statement, Coleman reflected on his time at the club: "After more than 17 years at this great football club, I've decided this season will be my last as a player here. I want to thank the fans for their unbelievable support. You've helped me in more ways than you could imagine. I live in the city—I see you all daily—and I've taken your love of the Football Club back into the dressing room to explain to the lads how much Everton means to the people."

He also expressed gratitude to the many people who shaped his career: "I also thank my managers, teammates, and all the staff at Everton. They've seen me happy, sad, angry, emotional, but the greater cause has always been Everton Football Club. Thank you for making me a better captain and teammate."

For now, the focus is on a well-deserved break: "The club have been unbelievable with me. They've offered me an opportunity to stay on. With it being such an important decision over my future, I'm going to take a nice, long holiday and look back on what has been an amazing time as an Everton footballer."

As Coleman prepares for his next chapter, his legacy as one of the Premier League's most loyal and dedicated servants is secure—a true reminder that sometimes, the best investments come in the form of heart, grit, and a £60,000 signing from Ireland.
