
Once the World Cup soccer tournament exits the City of Brotherly Love in early July, Major League Baseball will step up to the plate.
The Philadelphia Phillies and MLB announced the schedule of events for the five-day All-Star event that will be in the city from July 10-14.
The HBCU Swingman Classic will kick it all off at Citizens Bank Park on Friday, July 10 with the All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 14, finishing five days of baseball and baseball-related events in the city.
From Friday through Monday, the All-Star Commissioner’s Cup and Jennie Finch Classic will be held.
The All-Star Village will be open Saturday through Tuesday and the MLB Draft will be Saturday.
On Sunday, the All-Star Futures Game and MLBx: All-Star 3-on-3 will be held at Citizens Bank Park.
On Monday, the Home Run Derby will be held with the All-Star Game on Tuesday.
The HBCU Swingman Classic will feature players from NCAA Division I programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Along with the game, the day will feature music, entertainment and ceremonies born from historically black colleges and universities around the country.
Following the All-Star Futures Game will be MLBx: All-Star 3-on-3. This is a fast-paced format built around power hitting and athletic catching, consisting of two semi-finals and a final, with each game lasting 30 minutes. This co-ed competition unites men and women athletes alongside MLB legends and special guests, with lineups to be revealed at a later date.
The MLB Village will be at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
For the sixth straight year, the MLB Draft will be held during All-Star week. The opening rounds of the draft are Saturday, July 11 at 1:30 p.m. from the Pennsylvania Convention Center Grand Hall. There is no charge to attend.
The All-Star Commissioner’s Cup and Jennie Finch Classic for youth teams will be played at the Philadelphia Phillies Urban Youth Academy in FDR Park from Friday through Sunday, with the championship games taking place Monday, July 13 at the University of Pennsylvania. The All-Star Commissioner’s Cup features teams of youth baseball players (ages 17 and under) from MLB Youth Academies from around the country and in Puerto Rico. The All-Star Jennie Finch Classic, named after the legendary Olympic gold medal winning softball player and MLB Youth Softball ambassador, features teams of youth softball players (ages 17 and under) from MLB youth academies and Jennie Finch softball programming.
