Evan Mobley and the Cleveland Cavaliers are gearing up for a thrilling second-round showdown against the Detroit Pistons in the NBA playoffs. After both teams scraped through tougher-than-expected first-round series, this matchup offers the Cavs a golden opportunity to punch their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals—a milestone neither Donovan Mitchell nor Mobley has ever reached.

For Cleveland to make that dream a reality, Mobley needs to be fully unleashed. In the previous series, the young star flashed his scoring potential with multiple 20-point games, and against the Pistons, the stage is set for even bigger performances. While Jarrett Allen and Jalen Duren will battle it out in the paint, Detroit simply lacks a defender who can contain what Mobley brings to the floor.

Expect Mobley to get to his favorite spots on offense and dominate the glass. The Pistons' frontcourt defenders—Tobias Harris and Duncan Robinson—don't offer the same resistance as Scottie Barnes or Toronto's wings. Detroit's best stopper, Ausar Thompson, will be too busy chasing James Harden and Donovan Mitchell to focus on Mobley.

This is a series where Mobley could average 20 points per game while he and Allen control the paint on both ends. Defensively, Mobley will also need to slow down Tobias Harris, who has been red-hot from the start of the playoffs. As a former Defensive Player of the Year, Mobley is more than capable of rising to that challenge.

The Cavs have the talent to win this series, but how quickly—and how convincingly—they close it out hinges entirely on which version of Evan Mobley shows up. If he plays his best basketball, Cleveland fans could be celebrating a trip to the conference finals.
