Few feelings in sports compare to winning a national championship. For Northridge High School graduate Eva Fisher, that dream became reality on March 24th. As a key member of the Marian University Knights, Fisher helped her team dethrone the two-time defending champions, Dort University, with a decisive 73-61 victory in the NAIA National Championship game in Sioux City, Iowa.

Coming off the bench as a junior, Fisher contributed eight impactful minutes, adding two points, a rebound, an assist, and a steal to the championship effort. Her journey to this pinnacle moment was fueled by a season of growth and unwavering belief. "Coming back this year, we knew we could play with them and beat them," Fisher said, reflecting on last year's quarterfinal loss to Dort. "We had a ton of confidence because all five of our starters were returning."

The victory was especially sweet given the challenging environment. Playing just 45 minutes from Dort's campus, the Knights faced a hostile crowd of thousands with only about 50 of their own fans. Despite trailing 32-28 at halftime, the team's resolve never wavered. "We never had a feeling of doubt," Fisher emphasized. "Coming out of halftime, we knew what we had to do."

When the final buzzer sounded, confetti rained down as the Knights rushed the court in a moment of pure elation. "There was a look of shock in everyone's eyes," Fisher recalled. "We did it and won it all. It was unbelievable." This win marks the third NAIA national title for the Marian women's basketball program, cementing a historic season with a program-best 35-2 record.
