When it comes to drafting offensive linemen from the Iowa Hawkeyes, the NFL rulebook might as well read: trust the tape, trust the process, and never overthink it. Iowa has become a powerhouse factory for developing linemen who go on to anchor starting units across the league—and Beau Stephens is the latest name to watch.

Selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, Stephens is already drawing buzz as an instant impact player who could step into a starting role from Day 1. ESPN's Field Yates, who had a fourth-round grade on the rookie, sees a seamless fit for Seattle's heavy-zone-run scheme. "Like many Iowa offensive linemen, Stephens is fundamentally sound," Yates notes. "He strikes with a good base, uses leverage deftly, and moves his feet exceptionally well. I think he can push for starting right guard Anthony Bradford's spot."

Stephens arrives in Seattle with a championship pedigree. In 2025, he earned First-Team All-American and First-Team Big Ten honors as part of Iowa's Joe Moore Award-winning offensive line—a unit widely regarded as the best in college football. He'll also reunite with fellow Hawkeye Mason Richman, a Super Bowl champion, adding another layer of chemistry to the Seahawks' offensive front.

The defending Super Bowl champions didn't have many glaring weaknesses, but interior offensive line was an area they aimed to address. With Stephens' blend of technique, mobility, and proven success, he looks ready to answer the call. For Seahawks fans, this could be the start of something special—one more Iowa lineman making his mark on the NFL.
