Barcelona have already wrapped up the La Liga title, but the real work is just beginning. With the 2026-27 squad taking shape, one name dominates the conversation: Marcus Rashford.
The English winger has been a revelation at Camp Nou this season, racking up 14 goals and 12 assists. And he's made it crystal clear—he wants to stay. So much so that he's willing to take a major pay cut and extend his contract to make it happen.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Rashford has proposed a creative solution to bridge the financial gap between Barcelona and Manchester United. Instead of a three-year deal, he's offered to sign on for five seasons—through 2032—at the same reduced salary he already agreed to.
The math is simple: spreading the €30 million transfer fee over five years instead of three significantly lowers Barcelona's annual amortization costs. That's a game-changer under the club's strict financial fair play limits.
Rashford has already accepted a 40% salary cut to stay. He hasn't received an official response from the club yet, but his intentions are loud and clear—he's willing to make even more sacrifices to remain in Catalonia.
But Manchester United aren't playing ball. The Red Devils are refusing another loan deal and insist the €30 million buy option—expiring in June—must be paid in full. Manager Michael Carrick has also made it known that Rashford is still part of his plans, and United are frustrated by the player's public declarations about wanting to stay in Barcelona.
To make matters more complicated, Aston Villa have entered the race. Unai Emery's side is ready to table a bid for the winger, and Barcelona are well aware of the competition.
For a player with 14 goals and 12 assists this season, losing him would be a massive blow. But with Rashford willing to take a financial hit to stay, the ball is now in Barcelona's court.
