Englewood High School is back on the coaching hunt after head football coach Alex Mohammed resigned following a single season at the helm. The timing adds urgency for the Rams, with spring football preparations now underway.

Mohammed announced his departure in a social media statement, expressing his affection for the players and his work. "This decision did not come easily, as I love every single one of the student-athletes that I had the pleasure of serving, and I love the work that I do," he said.

His lone season concluded with an 0-10 record, continuing a long-term challenge for the Englewood program. The Rams have found consistent wins hard to come by for decades, boasting only five winning seasons since 1985. Their high point remains a 1998 playoff victory, the program's only FHSAA regional win.

With the vacancy posted through Duval County Public Schools, the search for a new leader is on. Applications are open through April 13. The new coach will face an immediate scheduling shift, as the FHSAA now lists Englewood as a football independent for the upcoming season after initially slotting them into a competitive Region 3-4A.
