In a candid and emotional interview, Brazilian wonderkid Endrick has opened up about one of the toughest periods of his young career, offering rare insight into his future at Real Madrid, his conversations with Xabi Alonso, and his transformative loan spell at Olympique Lyonnais.
Currently lighting up Ligue 1 on loan with Lyon, the 18-year-old striker made it clear that despite a rocky start in Spain, his heart remains set on a long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu. "I've got a contract until 2032 – that's a long time," Endrick said. "I'm going to work hard to have a good season there when I return."
The forward also revealed his determination to earn a spot in Brazil's 2026 World Cup squad, adding: "The first step has already been taken with this latest call-up. Now comes the second: to keep going strong in the final stretch of the season so that, God willing, I'll be among the 26."
But the road hasn't been easy. Endrick reflected emotionally on a serious injury suffered against Sevilla last season – a setback that derailed his momentum at a critical moment. "Professionally speaking, the worst thing for a player is a serious injury," he admitted. "That one left me a bit shaken. But on a personal level, it was one of the best things that's ever happened to me. We became a family, built a shield, and grew stronger. If you have a good foundation off the pitch, things work out on it."
After recovering, Endrick tried to convince then-manager Xabi Alonso that he was ready for a bigger role at Madrid. "I told Xabi I was ready and he told me I'd be useful," he recalled. "I kept training, training… until I had to rethink my career." That moment of honesty led to his loan move to Lyon – a decision heavily influenced by his wife – and it has proven to be a turning point. The young star has been a revelation in France, rediscovering his confidence and form on the pitch.
As he looks ahead, Endrick's dream remains clear: to face Cristiano Ronaldo at the World Cup and one day return to Madrid as the player he was always meant to be.
