Florida State has landed in the top eight schools for 2027 blue-chip linebacker Mikahi Allen out of Ramsey, New Jersey.

The Florida State Seminoles are making a serious push for one of the nation's top young defensive talents. Mikahi Allen, a blue-chip linebacker from Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey, has officially placed FSU among his top eight schools for the 2027 recruiting class.

Allen's shortlist is a mix of powerhouse programs and regional contenders, including Texas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina, Syracuse, Illinois, and Rutgers. This announcement follows a recent visit to Tallahassee for a spring practice, building on the momentum from a Junior Day visit earlier this year.

For a player of Allen's caliber, the decision goes beyond just the logo on the helmet. He's looking for a program that can develop his game for the next level. "I look at scheme a lot," Allen told 247Sports. "If you want to get to that next level... you want to go to a college that can show your versatility to the scouts."

This focus on versatility makes Florida State's defensive scheme, led by coordinator Tony White, a particularly intriguing fit. The Seminoles' 3-3-5 defense features a dynamic "Jack" linebacker role—a hybrid position that rushes the passer and drops into coverage, perfectly suited to showcase a player's all-around skills.

Allen's on-field production proves he's more than ready for that challenge. During his standout junior season, he was a force on defense, racking up 58 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, and 3 interceptions. His performance has earned him national recognition as a top-250 overall prospect and one of the best linebackers in his class.

As his recruitment heats up, Allen's criteria are clear: a coaching staff that teaches the game effectively, a scheme that maximizes his versatility, and a school where he can see himself thriving both on and off the field. For Seminole fans, seeing FSU in this elite group is a promising sign that the program's future defensive identity is taking shape with top-tier talent.
