Derby County are shaking things up as the summer transfer window approaches, with four players—including experienced defender Callum Elder—being released at the end of their contracts.

The Rams are parting ways with 31-year-old Australian international Elder, who was the only one of the quartet to finish the season with the Championship side. Joining him on the way out are Austria international Andi Weimann (34), former Rams captain Ben Osborn (31), and 22-year-old Jake Rooney—the cousin of ex-Derby boss and Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney.

Each player took a different path this season. While Elder stayed put at Pride Park, Weimann was loaned to Rapid Vienna in February. Meanwhile, midfielder Osborn spent the entire campaign in League One with promotion-chasing Stockport County, and young defender Rooney—who joined Derby from Burnley in 2022—split his season between Barnsley (on loan) and Boston United in the National League.

In brighter news for Rams fans, the club is in talks with out-of-contract center-back Danny Batth about a new deal, suggesting the team is looking to retain some defensive stability as they rebuild for next season.
