Enjoying life as a Wales fly-half can be testing but Dan Edwards has vowed to embrace the pressure with a smile on his face.

There's no position in Welsh rugby quite like fly-half. It's a role steeped in legend, worn by icons like Barry John, Phil Bennett, and more recently, Dan Biggar. For Dan Edwards, the current man wearing the coveted number 10 jersey, the pressure is immense—but he's determined to meet it with a grin.

The 23-year-old Ospreys star has already tasted the highs and lows of international rugby. After starting his first seven games under head coach Steve Tandy, Edwards was unexpectedly dropped for the Six Nations clash against Scotland in Cardiff. In his place, Sam Costelow impressed before an injury opened the door for Edwards' return.

And what a return it was. Facing Ireland and Italy in the final two matches of the tournament, Edwards delivered a masterclass: a 16-point performance featuring a try and a towering drop-goal. "I felt lucky to play those games," Edwards admitted. "If Costy hadn't gotten injured, I probably wouldn't have been involved. I had to make sure I took my opportunity."

For Edwards, the secret to his success is simple: play with joy. "I play my best rugby when I look happy and a bit cheeky on the field," he said. "Wales captain Dewi Lake told me he'd hate to play against me if he looked across and saw me having a laugh. In that Italian game, when I'm playing with a smile, I'm at my most dangerous."

His Ospreys head coach, Mark Jones, calls Edwards' positivity "infectious." And the fly-half himself embraces the swagger that comes with the territory. "Some people might think it's a bit arrogant or cocky," Edwards said. "But that's when I'm at my best—having fun, taking people on, running with the ball in hand."
