The Magpies, currently sitting 13th in the table, looked destined for victory when Harvey Barnes fired them ahead in the 74th minute. However, in a cruel twist, former Newcastle academy product Elliot Anderson struck an 88th-minute equalizer to snatch two precious points from Howe's side.

"It's a decent performance, but when you group everything that's happened to us this season, it's another game we feel we should've won and we haven't," a visibly frustrated Howe reflected. "We dominated for large periods and should've scored more than one, then paid the price at the end."

The first half was largely uneventful, but tactical adjustments at the break transformed Newcastle's display. Howe praised the impact of his substitutes, though he couldn't hide his disappointment at the defensive lapse that cost them. "We had chances to get a second goal and should have done—then we just didn't defend the goal well enough at all," he added.

With only two matches remaining in the season, Howe is determined to finish on a high note. "If we can win our last two games, we'll look at it positively," he said. "But we have to leave with a better feeling than we have today. The lads are really trying, but we're just not putting it together for the whole game."
