Eddie Howe has dropped a major hint that Anthony Gordon could be on his way out of Newcastle United this summer, with Bayern Munich circling for the in-form winger. The German giants have reportedly opened talks with the Magpies over a potential blockbuster deal, and the speculation is now heating up as the season winds down.

Gordon, who signed a long-term contract with Newcastle until 2030, is said to be open to a move to Vincent Kompany's side. Bayern narrowly missed out on this year's UEFA Champions League final, and they're looking to reload with fresh firepower. The 25-year-old has been Newcastle's top scorer this season with 17 goals, making him a hot commodity. The Tyneside club is reportedly holding out for a fee of at least £75 million, but they're willing to listen to offers for the England international.

Interestingly, Gordon hasn't featured in Newcastle's last four Premier League matches. The first two absences were due to a hip flexor issue, but he's been an unused substitute in the last two outings. Howe admitted that part of the reason for benching him is a forward-looking approach. "When you get to this stage of the season, part of what we will be doing we’ll be looking to next year, naturally, so yes," Howe said. "Anthony’s just come back from injury. I think the team has played well in his absence and with a partial view to the future, yes."

When pressed for an update on the Bayern Munich rumors, Howe kept his cards close to his chest. "No, nothing, no updates from me. These are discussions that potentially might be happening, but not with me."

However, the Newcastle boss may have no choice but to start Gordon this Sunday against West Ham United at St. James' Park. Joelinton, who has been filling in on the left side of the forward line, is nursing a thigh injury. Howe made it clear that team needs come first. "If it’s the right thing for the team, and I put the team and the club above any individual, then I would play him, of course."

With the transfer window approaching and Bayern lurking, all eyes will be on Gordon's next move—both on and off the pitch. For now, the winger's future remains a gripping subplot as Newcastle push for a strong finish to the season.
