The Philadelphia Eagles have cut a player at a position in transition.
The Eagles waived tight end Jaheim Bell on Tuesday, the franchise announced.
Bell, a 2024 seventh-round pick by the New England Patriots, joined the Eagles’ practice squad last October.
Bell was waived a week later, spent three weeks with the Pittsburgh Steelers, then signed a reserve/future contract with the Eagles in January.
Bell, the former Florida State and South Carolina standout, was signed to that reserve/future contract to add more competition in the Eagles’ tight end room.
The Eagles drafted Vanderbilt star Eli Stowers at No. 54 overall in the second round. It was a big decision by Howie Roseman to take Stowers, the Mackey Award-winning “matchup nightmare” who will have to develop as a blocker.

The Eagles will also reportedly sign Ole Miss tight end Dae’Quan Wright as an undrafted free agent.
Once Wright becomes official, the Eagles will have seven tight ends: Stowers, Dallas Goedert, Johnny Mundt, Grant Calcaterra, E.J. Jenkins, Cameron Latu and Stone Smartt.
