The Philadelphia Eagles might just have a golden opportunity to strengthen their secondary—and it all starts with a familiar face.
After the Indianapolis Colts made the expected decision to release veteran cornerback Kenny Moore II, the Eagles have emerged as a potential landing spot for the 30-year-old Pro Bowler. And according to Anthony DiBona of the Philly Special Show, there’s plenty of reason to believe Philly could come calling.
Moore, who signed a $30 million deal during his nine-year tenure in Indianapolis, is known for his versatility. Though he’s primarily played cornerback, he’s logged 58 snaps at free safety in his NFL career—a stat that caught DiBona’s attention. When Adam Schefter reported Moore’s release and labeled him a safety, it sparked speculation about a potential position change.
“If Moore is changing positions, I could certainly see the Eagles being interested,” DiBona wrote on X. He also pointed out that Philadelphia recently traded for Michael Carter II, a slot corner who’s reportedly moving to safety, suggesting the team is already exploring hybrid defensive backs.
But the connection runs deeper than scheme. Moore and Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni spent time together in Indianapolis, and both have spoken highly of each other in the past. That existing chemistry could give Philadelphia a leg up over other interested teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and Cincinnati Bengals.
On the field, Moore has proven he’s more than just a reliable tackler. Last season alone, he posted 55 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two forced forced fumbles in 14 games. Pro Football Focus graded him with an 84.4 run-defense mark—fifth-best among all cornerbacks—showing he can hold his own in the trenches.
For an Eagles team looking to reload after a competitive season, adding a versatile, veteran defender with ties to the coaching staff might be the kind of move that pays off big. Whether he lines up at cornerback or makes the full-time switch to safety, Moore could be the missing piece in Philadelphia’s secondary puzzle.
