The Philadelphia Eagles have secured a key figure behind the scenes, signing franchise icon Dom DiSandro to a contract extension.
Known affectionately as "Big Dom," DiSandro wears many hats for the team. His official title is advisor to the general manager, chief security officer, and head of gameday coaching operations. But to players and fans alike, he's much more than that—a trusted confidant and the glue that holds the locker room together during tough moments.
DiSandro's impact goes beyond the front office. He's beloved by Eagles players for his ability to build close connections and defend them when it matters most. On game days, he's the calming presence everyone turns to. This past January, during the Eagles' playoff loss to the 49ers, he famously stepped in to break up an argument between wide receiver A.J. Brown and head coach Nick Sirianni, keeping the sideline focused.
DiSandro first captured national attention during the 2023 season when a sideline scuffle with 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw made headlines. After Greenlaw slammed wide receiver DeVonta Smith to the ground, DiSandro gave him a slight shove. Greenlaw responded by poking DiSandro, leading to both being ejected. The incident earned DiSandro a sideline ban for the remainder of the season, but it also cemented his reputation as a player-first leader.
The terms of DiSandro's new deal haven't been disclosed, but the extension signals the Eagles' commitment to keeping their culture strong. The team has also extended assistant general manager Jon Ferrari and is expected to make more front office moves in the coming months to fill gaps left by Alec Halaby and Bryce Johnston.
With DiSandro locked in, the Eagles are poised to keep their locker room united and their sideline drama-free—exactly the kind of stability every championship contender needs.
