The first Round of the NFL Draft featured plenty of trades and some surprises, and New England Patriots fans got some great news in the A.J. Brown department.
ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed on Monday that A.J. Brown was "likely" to be traded to the Patriots after June 1. While the Eagles have maintained their stance, saying Brown is an Eagle and not giving much away, their pick on Thursday night essentially confirmed Brown was gone.
The Eagles traded up to select USC Trojans wide receiver Makai Lemon. This comes just after they traded for Dontayvion Wicks and signed Marquise "Hollywood" Brown. They have loaded up the wide receiver room, indicating that a major change is coming.
Brown has long been linked to the Patriots, and recent reports suggest his dreams of wanting to play for the Patriots are about to come true. The Eagles' spending a premium pick on a wide receiver, and trading up to do so, pretty much confirms that Brown is going to get traded.
It's unclear if the Eagles and Patriots have some kind of verbal agreement or trade terms in place. However, as long as Brown is on the Eagles, they can trade him anywhere. The Eagles could still ship Brown to a different team if they get a better offer. They have no loyalties to the Patriots and will do what's best for their football team.
