Duke is making another play for the Knueppel family, and Wisconsin basketball fans might be feeling a sense of déjà vu.

Wisconsin has long struggled to lock down top in-state talent, and the Badgers are watching history repeat itself. Just last season, Milwaukee native Kon Knueppel—who finished second in NBA Rookie of the Year voting—chose Duke over Wisconsin, leaving a glaring hole in the Badgers' lineup.

Now, the Blue Devils are eyeing his younger brother, Kager Knueppel. The 6-foot-10 forward, who plays for Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee, received a scholarship offer from Duke on April 28. That same school saw Kon become a national star, and the family connection is impossible to ignore.

Kager is already making a name for himself. According to 247Sports, he's ranked as the No. 5 player in Wisconsin for the class of 2027. The Badgers did extend an offer on February 23, but with Duke now in the mix, that offer suddenly feels less certain.

Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard has built a reputation for landing international talent, but keeping homegrown stars has been a different story. The Knueppel brothers represent a recurring challenge: can the Badgers convince elite in-state recruits to stay, or will Duke continue to swoop in?

For now, the battle for Kager Knueppel is just heating up. Wisconsin knew it was only a matter of time before Duke came calling, and the next move could define the Badgers' recruiting future.
